Heavenly Prayer ~ Discerning Heavens Heart

The disciples discerned and understood that there was a very special grace upon the prayer life of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord would go up on to the mountain and pray all night and when he would come down the next day amazing miracles, creative miracles, signs and wonders would follow Jesus. We see this in the scripture in Luke 11:1; Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
My prayer for you is that this article will help you to access this kind of heavenly prayer. I pray that as you put the scriptural principles found in these pages to work in your life and that your prayers would become not only effectual but powerful and prodigious. May you learn to grab hold of the horns of the altar and have a lifestyle of answered prayer! How? By learning to allow the precious Holy Spirit guide and lead you as you pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. As you learn to discern heavenly truth you will begin to emulate Jesus in your prayer time and pray and minister without doubt or wavering. You will learn to trust in God fully. You will learn that you can actually come boldly before the Father’s throne of mercy and grace in the heavenly places (Hebrews 4:16). Answered and effective prayer is one fruit of learning to discern the heavenly realms in your life and prayer times.
Your Kingdom Come – This is Bible
Jesus instructed us to pray like this; “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” This is not some farfetched theology this is Bible. It is a real aspect of heaven. This is New Testament Christianity! This is the revealed truth of God to His people through the words of His Son. You can access heaven daily for the Lord’s will for your life. God can give you His thoughts and revelation (fresh manna) for your life each day in many differing ways. I hope to entertain many of these supernatural methods in the subsequent pages of the book. Heaven can manifest or appear on earth (in our lives) as we pray and align ourselves with heaven. I call this supernatural syncopation. If you can grasp this dynamic of the Lord’s Prayer for yourself it can be life changing! You can learn to become supernaturally syncopated with heaven everyday of your life. I ask the Lord what He wants for me to do almost every single day. Guess what? He tells me. And He will tell you too! That is called being led by the Spirit and is an earmark of a mature son (or daughter) of God. You will unquestionably hear the voice of the Lord as He speaks to you.
If we are going to entertain the heavenly realms, we need to sharpen our spiritual discernment. Everything that we experience and anything that I write in this book must line up with the word of God and the Canon of Scripture. Period. Let me show that to you in the scripture. Let’s look at 1 Corinthians, chapter 2. We are talking about entertaining heaven. The key is not just to entertain heaven but to access heaven and then to manifest or to release heaven into your sphere of influence. That is answered prayer. That is co-laboring with heaven. Many of us have already seen that demonstrated where heavenly things are happening in our midst. Where there is an open heaven there is a free flow or access between heaven and earth. This free flow is evident in some individual’s lives or at certain gatherings or even certain places. Remember Jesus was praying in a certain place in Luke 11. The heavenly realms impact the terrestrial realms as heaven touches earth (this is why all of the events that we sponsor are Heaven Touching Earth Gatherings). Look at 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 9, to show you two keys to help you entertain heaven. This is the teaching of the Apostle Paul.
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
What the Apostle Paul is teaching about is the same type of supernatural vision that we have been looking at in 1 John and Ephesians. There is a supernatural vision that God can release to us where our eye can see and our ear can hear in a supernatural or heavenly way. This transpires when we are entertaining heaven. We begin to think from a different perspective. Hallelujah! This is discerning heaven right here right now, in the now, in the today. Don’t be looking and expecting God to do something tomorrow. The Lord is moving today (Hebrews 13:8). Quit making prophetic and pathetic excuses for God not moving in your life and ministries! He is just seeking people who will discern the movement of heaven in their lives and flow with Him. The revival is NOW! Quit wasting time prophesying and looking for a move of God coming tomorrow. He is moving NOW people! Step into it! NOW!
Make a Demand on Heaven
I no longer think the way I used to think. I believe that my God and my Father who has engrafted me into His heavenly family and loves me simply because that is who He is and because the scripture verifies He does. And because He loves me, I believe I can stand up at anytime and anywhere and believe for God to release miracles and healings and signs and wonders. The amazing thing about this type of heavenly mindset is that God backs it up with attesting signs and answered prayers. But, I take a step of faith. I step out and make a demand on heaven. So that is a key for you as well. A key to heavenly realms is to make a demand on heaven.
New Homes
In 2004 the Lord (the Holy Spirit) told me to begin to pray for “new homes”. I thought: “Gee, I just need one home, Lord”, and began to pray that way. But the Lord quickly and gently impressed upon me that He had instructed me to pray for home(s) plural. So I was obedient. Though it did not make any sense to me I began to pray for home(s) plural. I was praying amiss. That is one reason most of our prayers are not answered (James 4:3). Even though I did not understand the Lords directives, I began to call those things that were not as if they were (Romans 4:17). In my prayer room I have a dry erase board and I have homes(s) written on it.
Today, in 2018, there are five check marks beside the word home(s) on that board in my prayer room. Why, because the Lord has led and allowed me to own 5 different homes in the last fourteen years. This does not count or include the other seven homes that we have built for orphaned children in East Africa! Not my will be done, but Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Is not God amazing! Seventeen years ago I could not even afford a toothbrush while on a mission’s trip! I hope that this illustration is helpful to you and encourages your faith. Fore if I boast in anything I boast in Christ Jesus! I boast in the Holy Spirit who can lead us in prayer. I boast in my Heavenly Father who answers our prayers when we are supernaturally syncopated with heaven, or entertaining heaven.
So again, 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 9, speaks of our eyes and our ears. That is a key to entertaining heavenly realms. In other words, we need to begin to see and hear in a new and supernatural way, as we saw outlined in 1 John and Ephesians. Again this is the operation of the seer function which is also spiritual discernment. (Forgive me for being repetitive, but I have learned that we can receive spiritual truth by having it come into our eye gates repeatedly). So there you go! I believe many of you are reading this book because God wants to change the way you think, He wants to change the way you see, and He wants to change the way you hear. Right now, just purpose in your heart and spirit to “believe to receive” as you read this book!
Spiritually Discerned
In 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 14, we read: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him….” Our carnal mind has a difficult time comprehending the attributes of heaven and the supernatural operations of our heavenly Father. Why? Because all of our lives ever since the time we’ve been little tots, we’ve been taught that the things of the Spirit are foolishness. But our Father wants to change our minds so that we understand that the heavenly things are more real than the terrestrial things.
The Lord is actively searching for someone who will allow the Spirit to transform their minds. The Lord is actively looking for people who He can teach how to align themselves correctly with heaven. How does that happen? We see it in the second half of verse 14: “…nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” We are talking about developing our spiritual discernment to entertain or interact with heaven. And God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit will help you to become truly Spirit led and to entertain or interact with heaven. In fact, that is the whole reason for your existence!
