Children and Angelic Encounters

By Pastor Carol Koch

I have been equipping children in the area of prayer for almost twenty years, and it still amazes me how open their hearts are to experience God. I love teaching them about establishing their prayer life because it’s about developing a relationship with the Lord; you learn to talk to Him, then you listen and He talks to you.  It’s that simple. I want to share some testimonies of children who have developed an ability to hear the voice of God, and as a result they have experienced many encounters with Him and angels as they seek Him in prayer.

Testimonies:

Kids Prayer Walking

One evening the kid’s prayer group was invited to join citywide prayer, as they prayer walked in our downtown area for an upcoming festival. We walked along with the adults as they declared prayers over our city. At the end of the walk I asked the kids if they had anything to pray. I knew they would, so I had them gather around. Immediately the kids fell to their knees and prayed and wept for our city for over thirty minutes (the adults were totally taken by surprise). When they were finished, I gathered them together and asked what they felt like God was saying. One of the girls said she felt like someone got saved (asked Jesus into their heart) while we were praying. I asked why she thought that. Her response: “Because I saw the angels having a party, and the Bible says the angels rejoice over one sinner who repents.” (See Luke 15:10.)

This was from a girl in the third grade.

Man with the Shining Face

A family in our church was going on vacation to Disneyworld, and they prayed for angelic protection for their travels.

The whole time while they were gone, their son kept seeing a “man with a shining face” following them wherever they went.

The son was four years old.

Angel with a Green Sash

During one of our weekly kid’s prayer times, we were asking God to show us things from Him. One of the kids saw an angel with a green sash around its waist. When the kids have a vision or any type of “spiritual experience,” I want to teach them how to judge everything according to the Bible. So I always ask them, “Could that vision have been from God? Can we think of a verse that would agree with what we saw?” In this particular case, since the Bible has many verses on angels and in Revelation 4:3 it tells us there is a rainbow around the throne indicating there is color in heaven, the vision could have been from God.

I thought this was interesting because I had heard of a well-known prophet who had talked about seeing an angel with a green sash. The child would not have known this.

Playing with the Angels

One evening after a powerful conference in our church, many of the adults had left. One of our children was still in the auditorium, lying on the platform rolling around laughing with feet and hands up in the air. No one else was in the room, so I know she wasn’t doing it for attention. I asked her what was going on.

She said some angels were playing and tickling her. This interaction went on for forty-five minutes. She was seven years old.

Visions of Angels

One night during kid’s prayer there was such a powerful presence of God, I knew there were angels in the room. Many of the kids had prophetic words. One little girl saw “angels having trumpets in their hands with their music carrying holy and joy. They were spreading around holy and joy in the room.”

The girl is eight years old.

Prayer Times

There are so many spiritual encounters the kids have had just while they are learning to hear God’s voice and learning to lay before Him in prayer.

The presence of angels can be felt every week as we gather together. We don’t focus on the angels. The focus is all about Jesus, but the angels enforce all the promises found in our covenant with God. Angels are God’s covenant enforcers!

The kids have numerous testimonies of angelic encounters: they see angels in the room, angels standing over certain kids, angels with trumpets in their mouths, angels bringing things from the throne room, etc., etc. I can’t even remember them all!

There was one night when we strongly felt the presence of angels while we worshipped. I so wanted to work with the host of heaven, I asked the Lord what He wanted to do. The evening was very powerful with Him speaking to the hearts of the kids.  We were praying for sick people when a lady who is battling cancer came into our group.  I saw an angel enter the room. I knew he was being assigned to go home with her. So I asked her, “Have you been praying for help from angels?” Her eyes began to form tears as she said, “I have been praying for God to send more angels to help me.” Her whole countenance changed. We are believing for her total healing from cancer.

An awesome thing about kids praying for sick people is that these people are now beginning to request the kid’s team to minister to them!

No Age Limit

We need to teach a generation of children that angels are sent to minister to those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14)—that means any age. There is no age limit in the Bible concerning when you can experience God. In fact, in Scripture it encourages us to mentor our children in things of God.

Tell your sons about [the mighty work of the Lord], And let your sons tell their sons, And their sons the next generation.

—Joel 1:3, NASB

God’s plan is to establish a generational stronghold of blessing. Each generation is to walk in more revelation, victory, wealth, and anointing than the previous generation.

Experiencing a “supernatural God” is for everyone!
