In My WeaknessBy Staff

June 6 ~ In My Weakness

Cornerstone Scripture: Philippians 4:6,7; Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The East African sun beat through the flimsy blue curtain. A bead of sweat rolled off of my neck and down the small of my back. It was hot and so was I. I was frustrated and could not wait to board the plane that would help me to escape back to America. The window pane shattered and curses came over the wall from the street outside. A piece of glass landed in my open suit case which I was packing. One last crusade meeting and I would leave Tanzania behind, and also the ministry the Lord had given unto me to steward.

The very people that I had sought to help were threatening me and had demanded that I meet them in court where they were demanding more money (porsho) for the volunteer work they had done at the new orphanage in Llemelua. That project had been a labor of love, and I have literally put blood sweat and tears into that large children’s home. Later, that pastor would evict the 27 orphans who were living there. He told the orphans that Kevin and Kathy no longer wanted to help them. Then he attempted to sell the property to a rich Russian pilot who flew the tilapia out that was harvested from Lake Victoria. I was finished! How could these people say that they loved the Lord and do such selfish things. No! The rock that crashed through the window was the final straw. I had made up my mind; once I reached Missouri I would quit the ministry.

Later that night it seemed like I was in a dream. I preached the message of salvation and told the 1200 or so people who came to the altar to receive Jesus as Savior this; “The preaching of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”. I declared in a bold and loud voice; “We are about to witness God’s power to save, heal and deliver!” As I said the word miracles there was an instanteous clap of thunder and a quick flash of lightening. People began to scream and miracles began to happen all over the crusade grounds, a holy ciaos ensued as many were touched!  Glory to God who is mighty to save and heal. Blind eyes opened, deaf ears were healed, and many tumors were dissolved.

In my mind, I was thinking, I cannot wait to get on that plane tomorrow and start a new life! Bwana Isaiah was helping me as my interpreter, (Bwana is one of the children that we had been helping since 2004). A woman had come to the altar carrying a two year old little girl. Her testimony was that a tumor that was as big as a head or watermelon had dissolved! After she shared her powerful testimony I told Bwana Isaiah to bring up the next testimony (I wanted to leave). However, Bwana Isaiah stopped me saying “you have missed the big miracle”! The woman came back to tell the people that she had heard the people in the bush on bicycles saying the God of the white preacher could heal any sickness and even if one should die his God could raise them from the dead. She went on; “My baby died two days ago from Malaria, and I have been walking to this place since then. When the preacher said the word “miracles” I felt lightening enter into my head, my tumor went away, and my dead baby began to kick and scream and came back to life! Thank you Yeshua (Jesus)”. I stood there in shock. I had Dr. Wallace, a medical doctor and my primary interpreter interview the woman and verify that her child had been indeed raised from the dead. He confirmed her testimony. Then I recalled how the Lord had told me that I would see a small girl raised from the dead over three years before. The Spirit of God fell upon me and I instantly knew that the mighty miracle was not about me, it’s about the risen Savior Jesus Who can save, and heal all who can only believe. I continued to preach and minister in many nations and I discovered that in my weakness His strength is made perfect.

Declaration: Lord today, I choose to trust in You and to allow Your Spirit to guide and lead me. Lord, even when I am in the flesh I know the reality of the Kingdom of God. It is not me; it is all about You Jesus. Thank You Lord, for I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Even when I’m anxious and ready to quit, Your Spirit is within me to strengthen me and help me. I can do all things through Christ Jesus Who is always there; Who strengthens me when I feel defeated. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!
